Aldi Briggs & Stratton 140cc Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower

Aldi are advertising a 46cm 140cc Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower which will be available from Thursday 29th May 2014.

This is one of Aldi’s weekly deals so there will be limited stock.

They do not give too many details but here is what they do say.

  • 140cc Briggs & Stratton 575EX four stroke petrol engine.
  • 0.8 litre fuel capacity.
  • Max power 2.1 kW
  • 7 centrally adjusted cutting heights
  • 60 litre grass collection box
  • 46cm (18″) cutting width

There is no clue as to who is making these lawn mowers for Aldi.

UPDATE 2016: The Aldi 46cm self propelled petrol mower is back again for March 2016. I’ve looked around and TooledUp have the Webb R46SP at a similar price and if you don’t need such a large petrol mower cheaper alternatives are available such as those on sale at Wilko.

UPDATE 1/6/2014: I saw these on sale in Aldi today. The box says ‘Made in China’ and gives the model number GPMXSZ46I and web address on which there is an instruction manual for the lawn mower which gives the manufacturer as SUMEC Hardware &Tools of Nanjing, China.

Looking at the two images I can see similarities to the McCulloch M46-575CMDW but I can also spot differences too. It would be interesting to know who makes the Aldi petrol lawnmower, the electric lawnmower they recently offered was made by Einhell.

I bought one at the weekend and I’m very impressed so far for the money.. It has a B&S 575EX motor and is a good build quality from China.

I bought one but had nothing but problems. Sumecs after sales ervice service in the UK is non existent. I wanted a repair and they had no parts. Then when I asked if it could be repaired locally, they advised that I had to send it back to them at my cost…
I took it back to aldi for a refund
