The Hayter Hayterette petrol lawnmower has been in production for over fifty years. The first petrol lawn mower I ever used was a a Hayterette.
If you are not familiar with the Hayter Hayterette the first thing you will notice is the lack of a grass collector along with the shallow deck. This is because the Hayterette is designed as a workhorse machine for maintaining rough grassed areas.
It features a cast aluminium deck rather than the more common pressed steel. It also has reinforced axle plates for reliability.
The blade arrangement is unusual as can be seen in the picture below. Four swinging blades are mounted on a rotating disc which helps protect the crankshaft from damage in the more challenging terrain it is designed for.
These days the Hayter Hayterette is fitted with a Briggs & Stratton 650 Series four stroke petrol engine.
As I write this MowDirect are offering a free 10 litre steel jerry can when you purchase a Hayter Hayterette lawn mower from them.
